The 60/40 Workshop

We are situated on the rugged North coast of Cornwall 5 minutes from the sea and facing the Atlantic Ocean.
We decided on a name for our workshop after splitting it into 2 sections. I have the front 40% section and Dave does his wood-turning and other makes in the 60%

We both have a background in the creative arts having worked in Further Education for many years lecturing in Art & Design and Photography.

Contemporary Pen Maker

Dave designs and makes his unique pens and is perfecting the process of recycling our single use plastics such as milk bottle tops and other plastics which have the safety number 2 on them, melting and manipulating the plastic then turning them on his lathe in the workshop into beautifully crafted unique pens. He has also been working with wood, acrylic, resin and polymer clay incorporating and fabricating other materials into the body of the pen including ground slate from the famous Delabole Slate quarry just down the road from us. He has worked on a number of commissions for people wanting bespoke colours and designs. He is able to laser into the barrel of the pen if wanting an image or text to be included.  paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

Artisan Craft Makers in Kiln Fired Glass

Over the last year we have brought our kiln out of storage to start working in glass again and discovering the wonderful techniques and possibilities of working with this medium.
Karin had found a passion for kiln formed and fused glass when at Portsmouth University completing a degree course in 3D design. Over 20 years later and now living in Cornwall it was time to realise her dream. Dave has hopped on the wave of enthusiasm and is loving making his own glass work inspired by his interests and his photography background.

We were fortunate to find a year long course in Bude, not far from us that will give us a qualification in Glass techniques and fusing.
